Fifth wheel hitch utilize a set of attachment rails permanently attached to the bed of your truck either in the bed or underneath it. The fifth wheel unit can be removed easily from the truck when not in use, leaving the mounting rails in the truck. One advantage of this style over the older non-removable units is the ability to easily upgrade to a heavier duty 5th wheel hitch without having to change the mounting systems, as well as the benefit of available bed space when not using the 5th wheel hitch assembly. You can also use a detachable above bed gooseneck plate for towing gooseneck trailers.
